After the success of Taken and Gran Torino, Hollywood has been on a vigilante kick. And right now, Bryan Singer (along with studio execs all over town) has been seriously considering getting his revenge on with The Prisoners, a much-sought-after thriller script to which Mark Wahlberg is attached to star as a Boston dad who takes the law into his own hands when his young daughter is kidnapped. The screenplay, which has been compared to The Silence of the Lambs and Seven, has been buzzed about as a calling card for its unknown writer, Aaron Guzikowski, and as a rare project targeted at adult audiences but with real commercial potential. When asked whether The Prisoners will be his next movie, Singer told EW: 'I don't know yet. But I'm definitely intrigued. It's a great script. And I'd love to work with Mark.' source: EW

J.J. Abrams Spy TV Series officially at NBC

A new spy project co-written by Abrams has found a home at NBC, after a prolonged bidding war between NBC, ABC, and CBS. The currently unnamed spy drama concerns a husband and wife spy team—and before you even think it, I figure the show will differ from Mr. and Mrs. Smith (a property which ironically had a lot of trouble coming back to television recently) in some big way. It’s not like Abrams to be lazy with his project concepts, so I’d be surprised if he ended up simply rehashing someone’s previously trodden material.

It marks Abrams’ first collaboration with NBC where the potential series could join the spy dramedy “Chuck,” also from WBTV.

The first project Abrams co-created under his rich deal with WBTV, the sci-fi drama “Fringe,” also was written on spec and sparked a bidding war in fall 2007 before landing at Fox with a big series commitment.

Last month, Abrams received a presentation order from Fox for a half-hour project written by Mike Markowitz.

Reims first worked with Abrams on his WB Network series “Felicity” and was an executive producer alongside him on ABC’s “What About Brian.”

Reims, who most recently worked on ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” and “Dirty Sexy Money,” is repped by UTA. Abrams is repped by WME.
