After the success of Taken and Gran Torino, Hollywood has been on a vigilante kick. And right now, Bryan Singer (along with studio execs all over town) has been seriously considering getting his revenge on with The Prisoners, a much-sought-after thriller script to which Mark Wahlberg is attached to star as a Boston dad who takes the law into his own hands when his young daughter is kidnapped. The screenplay, which has been compared to The Silence of the Lambs and Seven, has been buzzed about as a calling card for its unknown writer, Aaron Guzikowski, and as a rare project targeted at adult audiences but with real commercial potential. When asked whether The Prisoners will be his next movie, Singer told EW: 'I don't know yet. But I'm definitely intrigued. It's a great script. And I'd love to work with Mark.' source: EW

New Line Cinema has set a Feb. 22 production start for “Hall Pass,” an R-rated comedy directed by Pete and Bobby Farrelly that will star Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis(From SNL).

The film centers on a married couple bored in their relationship. Rather than remain bored, the wife gives the husband (Wilson) a “hall pass,” which is essentially a free pass to cheat. His best friend (Sudeikis) also gets a “hall pass.” Then they go out to find chicks but decide that it’s really their wives they want to be with. That’s pretty much guaranteed to be the story, right? Ron Howard has committed to next direct Vince Vaughn in an untitled Allan Loeb-scripted comedy about infidelity. Universal Pictures will start production this spring.

Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer hatched the idea and will produce with Vaughn and his Wild West Picture Show banner.

Pic is an exploration of the comedic fallout surrounding infidelity between lovers and friends. Deals for Howard and Vaughn are being finalized.
